Monday, February 7thThe rain commenced to fall during the night and kept at it
all day. It froze at first on the trees but soon thawed off them
again. The snow and ice had not nearly all disappeared at
night, nor had it thawed much. The creek was bank full and
roared rather viciously. The business of the day was sitting in
the house. Mother did employ Alvin as assistant in washing,
and I chored around a little Jake was here awhile this foreĀ
noon on miscellaneous business. A huckster was also here inĀ
quiring the way to Bob Foster's through the pasture
