The
Chronicles of Upper Burnet, is
a daily
journal of events on an Indiana farm from October
2, 1880 to May 23, 1881. They were
written by William Gregory Harrison, a 26 year old unmarried farmer
who was living with his mother,
father and brother in Jefferson Township in Morgan County. Nearly a century later, the journal was contributed to the Indiana Magazine of History by a decendent of the Harrison family, William Ripley Harrison, edited by Roger
Miller and published in the Indiana Magazine
of History 74:4 (December 1978), 316-63 and 75:2 (June 1979), 147-210
This web version is identical
to the
print version with the addition of classroom "Teaching Notes" and pictures added by web editor, Don
Adams, throughout the journal to make it even more useful as a teaching tool.
The
orignal numbered foot notes are identical
to the print version except they no longer presented conventionally,
but are now presented as links.
The
webversion addition of "teaching notes" follow many the daily entries throughout the journal.
