The good stuff... you'll have to dig around to find the bad!

I moved to Morgan County when I was seven. Both my parents, Horace and Marian Davee Adams were graduates of Martinsville High School, Class of 1938. Dad was a machinist and hard working man---worked 60 hours a week all of his working career. Mom was a stay at home mom, then an elementary teacher and finished as the head of the five elementary libraries for the Mooresville Schools. She was recognized for her service by being honored as the Mooresvillian of the year in 1982.

My wife Lynn and I married in 1967.. we both taught and retired from the Mooresville School system. We moved to where we now live on Bethel Road in Brown township shortly after our marriage. We have been blessed with two children, Jed, a car..excellent care.. car salesman at Andy Mohr Chevy in Plainfield and Meghan, a librarian at the Monroe County Library in Bloomington. Both of them live close. Four grandchildren are now in the Mooresville schools and are a joy for us. One of my favorite spots to be is with the family around the large table gifted to us by our children a couple of years ago. That is where you can find all of us after church on Sunday.

I am a seventh generation Adams Morgan County-ite. Several members of my family have been in the public service. One grandfather, Jim Davee, taught school and later was elected as County Auditor in the Eisenhower years. Yes, I am related to former Commissioner Roger Davee..not sure how.. but I am. My other grandfather, Frank Adams, was Martinsville Chief of Police in the Dillenger days. He was also a Morgan County Sheriff's Deputy. My first cousin once removed, Thelma Gray, was the first woman Commissioner in Morgan County...and maybe in the State. Teaching and public office are in my genes.

I taught history, science and government for 38 years at Mooresville HS--- was Chairman of the Social Studies Department. Following my retirement from the High School classroom, I taught Government in Adult Ed and was a supervisor of student teaching at IU.

I was active in the Boy Scouts of America in my youth and young adult years serving as Scoutmaster for 25 years. In 1989 I was the Mooresvillian of the Year and I was very pleased to see my wife, Lynn receive that same recognition in 2018 for her service to the Mooresville community... and being a wonderful grandmother and wife... patient wife. .

We attend the Fairfield Friends (Quaker) Meeting in Camby where I am currently a property trustee. The Quaker values of Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community and Equality resonate in our living.

I have farmed and raised cattle since the early '70's. My son Jed is still active in 4-H cattle. He is also the assistant superintendent of the Beef Barn. Last year, his daughter, Jolie took her calf into the show ring at the Morgan County Fair for the first time...and wept when it was over because she wanted it to go on longer.

My hobbies are varied. I paint watercolor, fool around with pottery, dabble with writing and poetry and read a great deal. I raise and race homing pigeons... also have a small White Dove business. I enjoy gardening, critters (furred and feathered ) including people of all sorts, varieties and age groups. Tom T Hall surely read my mind when he sang, "I Love."
